What is SSAN Azerbaijan?

Sweden Students & Alumni Network Azerbaijan aims to bring together Azerbaijanis who studied and currently studying in Sweden, to expand their interests and ties, strengthen the established ties between Azerbaijan and Sweden, as well as to develop and implement projects in Azerbaijan and in Sweden, in areas such as education, science, business, technology, sustainable development, and culture.

The organization initially named Sweden Alumni Network Azerbaijan began its activities in 2020 and was established with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani alumni educated in Sweden. The main course and aim of Sweden Alumni Network Azerbaijan were to bring together Azerbaijani alumni educated in Sweden as Swedish Institute (Visby) scholarship holders and other Azerbaijani alumni educated in Sweden. The first Board of Sweden Alumni Network Azerbaijan was formed in January 2020 and its activities started from that period.

After the election of the new Board of the organization in January 2021, the long-term directions, goals and main principles of the organization were defined. The name of the organization was changed to Sweden Students & Alumni Network Azerbaijan, thus, laying the foundation for a new platform. The activities of the organization are defined for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and/or representatives of the Azerbaijani community living in the Kingdom of Sweden, studying or completing bachelor’s, master, and doctoral studies in educational institutions registered in the Kingdom of Sweden. The organization’s logo has also been updated and its activities on social networks (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) have been expanded.

At present, Sweden Students & Alumni Network Azerbaijan carries out its activities in accordance with the provisions of the Statute, which came into force on November 10, 2021.

Our Goals and Objectives

  • Consolidate members around a single value;
  • Strengthen unity and communication between members;
  • To mediate in strengthening the established relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Sweden, especially in the field of youth policy;
  • To equate and develop education, science, work, technology, sustainable development, culture and other related fields with common standards using the experience of both countries;
  • To preserve and maintain the generally accepted values and spirit of the organization;
  • To promote and encourage the building of a just society;
  • To be a mediator for achieving sustainable development goals in the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • To support the strengthening of common sense, transparent governance, the rule of law and the principles of statehood.

Regulations And Statute

The Statute of the organization reflects the goals, principles, legal status, management system, membership system, executive (main) board and advisory board, working board and their composition, meetings, elections, amendments to the Statute, legal force of the Statute and other issues. The Statute consists of 12 sections and 45 articles.

The Statute of the organization has the highest and most direct legal force within the organization. The Statute is the basis of the decision-making and execution system of the organization.

Management and Boards

We Couldn’t Do It Without our Team

The organization is managed by the main board (“Executive Board”). There is an advisory council (“Advisory Board”) under the Executive Board. A working group board (the “Working Group Board”) may be established for each Executive Body in order to cover the activities of the organization as a whole. Members of the Working Group Board may be involved to support the activities of the Advisory Board by the decision of the President of the organization (“President”) on the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Advisory Board (“Chairperson”).

The organization is guided by the following management principles:

  • Sustainability – expanding the network by socializing, supporting the admission of new members, innovating and exchanging ideas;
  • Professional development – expanding the network of professionals, involving new professionals, increasing job opportunities, knowledge and skills;
  • Leadership – bringing together young leaders and developing leadership skills;
  • Support – to support and advise new members, to organize motivational trainings, to provide internship opportunities and employment, to strengthen the financial support of the organizational fund.
